On February 28, 2001, Wyatt Engineering, LLC. began the final stage of acquiring the assets of the venturi, flow tube, and differential pressure producer products from Badger Meter, Inc. Badger Meter had initiated contact with David Wyatt of Wyatt Engineering & Design, Inc., an established flow measurement and flow control consulting firm. Given Mr. Wyatt’s depth of knowledge and reputation in the field of flow measurement, as well as his contributions to and standing within ASME, ISO, and ISA, the flow measurement community has shown its confidence that Wyatt Engineering continues with the quality support, manufacturing, and R & D work that former users of Badger flow meters deserve.

Since the purchase, Wyatt Engineering has experienced tremendous growth: not only has the original Rhode Island office moved to a larger facility, but the Tulsa, Oklahoma division has moved to a larger facility as well. The new facility, based in Pryor, Oklahoma, has also expanded further since its opening. Wyatt Engineering maintains an additional office outside of Washington, D.C.

Wyatt Engineering has provided products and services through its representative network to North and South America, Europe, and Asia. In fact, since the transition, there are more personnel dedicated full-time to the success of the differential products at Wyatt Engineering than had been committed for some time, furthering the growth and development of the company. The future of these products is more secure than ever.

Wyatt Engineering has delivered flow solutions and engineering services for hundreds of applications and users. Wyatt regularly services clients and customers in the following markets: municipal water and wastewater, industrial, pharmaceutical, military, petrochemical, and energy (refineries, gas and oil transmission, and power plants). Wyatt Engineering, LLC. has been registered as certified with compliance to the ISO 9001:2008 standards for a Quality Management System by Det Norske Veritas (DNV). DNV is one of the most highly regarded ISO accreditation organizations in the world. The ISO 9001:2008 is a revision to a series of Quality Management System standards namely, ISO 9001, 9002, 9003 and 9001:1994. Application of the standard includes the need to measure the effectiveness of the quality policy and key processes that ensure that our customers receive the product ordered as quoted, within schedule, and meeting quality specifications.

Wyatt Engineering’s certification became effective June 21, 2002. The certification includes both of the main Wyatt Engineering facilities and the entire line of products marketed and produced. The current certificate is valid until May 23, 2014.

In addition to our ISO certification, Wyatt Engineering is proud to be one of, if not the first, U.S. manufacturer of Venturis to obtain Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) certification for its products*.

The Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23/EC) was adopted by the European Parliament and the European Council in May 1997. It has initially come into force on November 29, 1999. From that date until May 29, 2002 manufacturers had a choice between applying the pressure equipment directive or continuing with the application of the existing national legislation. From May 30, 2002 the pressure equipment directive is obligatory throughout the EU. The directive provides, together with the directives related to simple pressure vessels (2009/105/EC), transportable pressure equipment (99/36/EC) and Aerosol Dispensers (75/324/EEC), for an adequate legislative framework on European level for equipment subject to a pressure hazard.

David C. Wyatt

David C. Wyatt, President of Wyatt Engineering, LLC, is a recognized authority in flow measurement and flow control. His professional engineering expertise covers flow measurement, flow control, hydraulic design, meter manufacture, and research and development. With broad industry experience, Mr. Wyatt provides guidance on field-verification of flow metering systems and substantiation of field-installed uncertainty and flow performance.

A member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the American Water Works Association (AWWA), and a senior member of the International Society of Measurement and Control (ISA), Mr. Wyatt actively participates in numerous committees, subcommittees, and advisory boards. Among these are the ASME Main Committee for Measurement of Fluid Flow in Closed Conduits and the US Technical Advisory Board to the International Standards Organization (ISO Technical Committee 30), for both of which he has chaired the leadership nomination committees. He is presently Chair of the Subcommittee on Differential Producers (orifice, nozzle, venturi, averaging pitot) and is Vice-Chair of the ASME Main Fluids Committee.

He earned his degree in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics at Northeastern University and has attended both the University of Massachusetts at Boston and Emerson College studying Physics, Mathematics, and Communications Studies.
